Junior Female Football
At BBAFC we offer a variety of options for girls to play football, depending on their age, skill level and desire to learn/train, we can support you or your daughters introduction/development in football. From the young age of 5 the introduction into our In-house Programme is the way to go, where on a Saturday morning, they all undergo a series of skill exercises for 30 minutes with their team, prior to a 25 minute game. This ensures all players get time on ball and multiple touches during that session.
We offer girls only teams from the 5th grade if this is the preference. But we find that once they hit around 9th grade it is perferable for them to play in girls only teams, and if possible against other girls teams. Boys develop quite differently to girls, so playing together from 9th grade and up can sometimes not be the best outcome for the girls, but it is totally a personal preference, as some will thrive in this environment. But for the majority, playing in a girls league has much better outcomes.
Once your female player is in the 9th grade, they have the option to continue playing In-house (@ LEP), or move across to NRF (traveling). The NRF leagues offer greater scope of competition as this is where all other Auckland Clubs enter their girls teams from this age, and NRF allocate them into appropriate divisions for their ability.
From 5th to 8th grade the girls play 4v4, without a goal; at 9th and 10th grade the feild size gets bigger (1/4 pitch) and they play 7v7; at 11th and 12th grade the pitch size has increased again (1/2 pitch) and they now play 9v9.
At Bucklands Beach we have multiple mixed and girls teams available from 5th to 12th grade, both In-house and NRF.
Youth Female Football
13th girls remain on the (1/2 pitch) 9v9 for one more year; then at 14th grade they progress to a full pitch playing 11v11. From 13th grade this is now considered Youth, and you continue through the age grades until you are 16th then you begin your introduction to Senior Womens Football.
At Bucklands Beach we have a number of girls teams available, this can change year on year, as this depends on how many girls register each year. Currently NRF are reveiwing their age bands, once confirmed this will be updated.
Senior Women's Football - First Team
Girls can play in a senior team once they turn 14, but it's adisable to veiw each situation separately depending on the girls size and ability, as we dont won't our young female players to get hurt/injured or loss confidence playing in senior womens too soon.
There are multiple divisions across the Senior Leagues, from NRFL Premier and Championship, NRF Conference, then Div1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
At Bucklands Beac we have two senior women's teams. In 2024 one team played in the more competitive Conference Grade, and the Foxes played in community NRF Div 4. Senior women play football on Sundays, followed by a traditional lunch catered by the home team.
Senior Women's Football - Community Team
We have a fantastic community women’s team currently playing in Div 4 (Foxes). A great bunch of ladies across a wide age spectrum, playing and having fun as a team. If you are interested in joining one of our teams, please contact females@bbafc.org.nz or just come along to our Preseason Training and join in the fun.
With larger squad training sessions combined with our upcoming youth and First team players, everyone gets a great opportunity to excel.
